graduation night:
10:14 p.m. 2007-06-22

I went to my graduation on Wednesday and it was quite a good experience. I have to admit to being quite nervous/anxious before the ceremony want to cover all bases in preparation to walking up on the stage and getting my diploma. Luckily I had my old school shuffle and Amy Winehouse was playing so it was all good. I realized that there was little reason for me to be anxious because I have completed all required courses and did not have to worry about studying for an exam or completing an essay. The hard part was over I only had to enjoy my moment which I worked hard for and deserved.

Before the ceremony I got the opportuntiy to see a few students which I knew which added to the specialness of the day sharing it with them. It also made me feel more comfortable that they had to endure the ceremony with me. I got the opportunity before entering the graduation hall to see many of the teachers who taught me and they were relaxed and in good spirits and so supportive of me and my achievements.

By the time I actually sat down with the other graduates in the gymnasium in preparation to receive my diploma I was quite at ease. I saw some more teachers who taught me who had been so supportive during my business program within and it brought back pleasant memories and made me feel more at ease. There were over 1000 people being graduated at my ceremony which was surprising. I thought it would be a more intimate affair but I suppose it only proves the size of my institution as there were about 10 such ceremonies planned in a relatively small time period.

It was 10 seconds of fame at best but was still special. When I got my envelop from the president of the college I was nearly speechless and only could manage thank you very much and was so honored to be bestowed with such an honour. It truly was a humbling but entirely rewarding experience. On stage I got just a blank envelop but upon leaving the stage there was a table where we picked up our actual diplomas.

After that I walked back toward where my seat was but was intercepted by my mom who attempted to use my camera with limited success to take a picture of me in my grad robe. At least she was there which is all that I wanted to be supported in what has been my greatest triumph so far.

After the ceremony I was able to meet up with my grandma and best friend's mother who I was delighted could share this special moment with me. She took some pictures too and I suspect she had greater camera success than my mom (lol). She was nice enough to drop us back home after the ceremony including my grandma at her home. It was quite a night, a night that I did not want to end to be perfectly honest.
